The Comite Maritime International is the oldest international organisation in the maritime filed. Its main object is to contribute to the unification of maritime law. Over its more than a century long history, the CMI has co-operated in producing a number of international maritime conventions and thus contributed substantially to the unification of maritime law. Together with the IMO (International Maritime Organisation), it is the main agent in preparing international law (conventions) in the maritime field.
